“From Our Mountain Community to Yours” is working on a project to plant trees in the area destroyed by the Lower North Fork Fire in Conifer. From the recent flooding and mudslides near Colorado Springs you can understand that this is an important endeavor.
If you would like to be involved, there are several ways that you can help this project.
1) Purchase trees to be donated: (See form for contribution details) These trees will be purchased from the Colorado State Forest Service at a substantial discount. You can keep up to 50% of the trees for your own personal use, or donate them all. Order deadline is August 1st!
2) Volunteer to distribute the trees that people will be keeping: On Aug 31 and Sept. 1 in Downtown Evergreen (near the bank) and in Bergen park the trees that will be kept by the people who bought the trees will be distributed. Volunteers are needed to work at these two points to distribute the trees. If interested, please send a note to Susan Glass at firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Plant the trees that are donated: On September 2, the Trees for the Fire area will be transferred to the area and planted. The objective is to plant 10,000 trees on this day. So, quite a few volunteers are needed to actually plant the trees. If planting is too strenuous, people still could help by passing out water, or handling logistics of this effort. If interested, please send a note to Susan Glass at email@example.com.
